“Life is too short to say No to a Cake”

I started baking when I was in high school, not that I bake a lot but my masterpiece is until now a Chiffon cake! I remember when I was in college I used to have orders from neighbors and my mum’s friends during Christmas and New Year. I was pretty busy during holiday season because of chiffon cake orders. I loved it because I will then have money for shopping!

Anyway, years ago I started to start baking again and enhanced my creativity through decorating and sugar-crafting. I had a lot of orders from friends but I didn’t go full on as a business because I was quite happy with doing it from time to time. This time fondant was new to me because I was used to decorate cakes using boiled icing and I buy ready made decorations from a shop when I was back in my home country. Sugar crafting is quite a bit challenging at first but I enjoyed doing it especially when I had to do it at night when it’s all quite and I have mellow music in the background, it’s a bit of therapy to just be lost in my own world crafting cake toppers.

Two years ago, I stopped baking because I had to move to a new place and I have space issues. Also I am doing  a full time job now in retail, doing school run and a bit of extra activities here and there, I don’t have time at the moment. I had to store my baking and decorating stuff somewhere so maybe in the future I can use them again. I can’t say I’m an expert because I’ve seen a lot of cake designers that are so talented and their cakes are so phenomenal. Two of the cake masters that I really love are Buddy Valastro the Cake Boss and owner of Carlo’s Bakery  and Duff Goldman of Charm City Cakes.

Baking and cake decorating is one of my passions which I don’t think I have given up yet, I think I just need my baking mojo back! Here’s a Gallery of some of the cakes that I made:
